Multi-Tiered Support System
At Newberry Community School, we believe a positive school culture is built through clear expectations, consistency, and support for every child.
Our Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) is a schoolwide framework focused on supporting positive student behavior and helping students develop the social and emotional skills they need to succeed at school. MTSS allows staff to respond early, provide appropriate levels of support, and ensure students feel safe, respected, and supported.
How MTSS Works at NCS
All students benefit from clear behavioral expectations, consistent routines, and proactive classroom practices. Tier 1 supports are built into daily classroom life and focus on teaching, modeling, and reinforcing positive behavior across the school.
Some students may need additional behavioral support at certain times. Tier 2 provides targeted interventions for students who need more structure, feedback, or guidance to meet behavioral expectations. These supports are designed to prevent challenges from escalating and help students build positive habits.
Character Education
At NCS, clear expectations and positive behavior are reinforced consistently across classrooms and learning spaces. Character education plays a central role in how we support students within our MTSS.
