Principal Lacy Roberts

Principal Roberts has deep roots in the Newberry community. She both grew up in the area and served as Principal of Newberry Elementary School from 2002 to 2014. During her tenure, she elevated the school’s profile through numerous awards and recognitions.
Her expertise includes curriculum development and the implementation of inclusive practices for students with special needs. Principal Roberts holds a bachelor’s, master’s, and specialist degree from the University of Florida. With 34 years of experience in education, she is committed to leading NCS with excellence and purpose.
Asst Principal April Akins

Born and raised in Gilchrist County, Assistant Principal, April Akins has always had a deep passion for caring for and making a difference in the lives of children and families through education.
In 2004, she officially launched her teaching career and has since gained a wide range of experience. She worked at Joyce Bullock Elementary, Newberry Elementary, and Trenton Elementary teaching Pre-K special needs, Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 5th grade, as well as working with a variety of students with disabilities.
For the past six years, she has served as Gilchrist County’s Pre-K Coordinator, where she provided leadership and support to teachers and staff. In this role, she focused on fostering a collaborative and positive learning environment for teachers and students.
Mrs Akins is deeply committed to creating a school culture where teachers, students, and families feel welcomed, valued, and supported. Her passion for education is rooted in building strong relationships and helping every child reach their full potential.
