Behavior Policy

At Newberry Community School, positive behavior is taught, supported, and reinforced as part of everyday learning. Our approach to behavior focuses on clear expectations, consistency, and helping students learn the skills they need to be successful members of the school community.

NCS believes that students thrive when they feel safe, respected, and supported—and when expectations are clearly understood and applied consistently.

Clear Expectations for All Students

Newberry Community School follows the School District of Alachua County’s Code of Student Conduct, which outlines behavioral expectations, student rights, and appropriate responses to behavior.

Schoolwide expectations are communicated clearly to students and reinforced throughout classrooms, hallways, and shared spaces. These expectations are designed to promote respect, responsibility, and a positive learning environment for all.

When students need help meeting behavioral expectations, staff respond thoughtfully and consistently, with the goal of helping students stay engaged in learning and feel supported at school.

Newberry Community School uses a structured system to guide behavioral support and ensure responses are appropriate and consistent across settings.

Character education helps reinforce expectations students experience throughout the school day. Through schoolwide programs and consistent routines, students learn responsibility, respect, and accountability in age-appropriate ways.

These efforts work alongside our broader student support framework.
